Also this year the European commission has published the EU-wide car price differentials: it is very useful for those who would like to buy a car in another EU-country.
The remarkable price differences are mainly due to the different taxes in the various countries. We invite you nevertheless to consider the great material and temporal expense necessary for the purchase of a car in another country.

“Turisti protagonisti” (Tourists as protagonists) is a service offered by the Italian Presidency of the Ministers Council (Presidenza del consiglio dei Ministri) in order to improve the tourism in our country through direct reports of those who have spent their holiday abroad. Positive suggestions of Italians who passed their summer holidays abroad give some useful hints to improve the Italian tourism services; Italy is indeed one of the leaders for beauty, culture and landscape, loses however some positions in organisation and offers.

SELLING EVENTS

A “free” lunch for 900 Euros

In July, many Southtyrolians received via mail an invitation for a washing agent presentation, a credit note for various products and a three-course meal. Therefore, some people from Meran, Bozen, Brixen, Bruneck and Sterzing, mainly retired persons, followed the invitation and went to the meeting for the presentation of the washing agent. The presentation however turned out to be a conference for the purchase of a “miracle” product, which would heal all possible problems of aging, according to the organizers.
Several consumers were persuaded to buy the “Vita Sanitas Q 10”: 6 packets of 30 phials each for the small price of 900 Euro. The consumers reported that the payment had to be in cash. A few days after the meeting some consumers asked the EEC for further information about the right of withdrawal. Unfortunately the contract of purchase, which had been signed by the consumers, didn’t contain neither the name of the company nor the address to which the withdrawal could be sent. These presentations have been reported to the Italian Finance Police (Guardia di Finanza) of Meran who started inquiries in order to find the organisers of the presentations.



Case of the month

An Austrian consumer has bought a glass table in a furniture shop in Austria, which a short time after broke into pieces without any influence. In this occasion the wooden floor, the couch as well as the carpet have been damaged. Therefore the consumer asked the colleagues of the EEC Vienna for help, who delegated the consumer to the EEC Bozen as it is a case of product warranty that has to be asserted at the producer- an Italian company. At a product warranty the producer is held responsible for the damages caused by a defective product.
Due to our intervention the consumer has been given Euro 1782,00 which is a great success for us as only rarely such high sums are refunded in an extrajudicial way, even if the right is on the side of the consumer.
