The New Electronic Passport
As we already announced last year, the safety measures regarding passports were raised on the 26th of October of this year by the introduction of the electronic passport. This document has got special printing features that make falsification impossible and it contains a microchip with the data of the owner issued by the corresponding office and confirmed electronically. The new passport costs 44,66 Euro (32 pages) or 45,62 Euro (48 pages). The annual charge for the national concession stays the same. The new passport makes it possible to enter the USA and to pass through its airport without a visa. Of course, the old passports are valid at least until their date of maturity. ‘Viaggiatreno’: The Information Service of Trenitalia (National Italian Railway)
‘Viaggiatreno’ is a real time information service that makes it possible to get up-to-date information about national and regional railway traffic online or on one’s mobile phone. In order to know about a train’s movement, delays or just departure and arrival times (scheduled and real ones) it is enough to enter the section ‘TrenOnline’ and to type in the train number or the station of departure and arrival. Case of ‘Vita Sanitas Q10’: Thanks to the Report of the EEJ: The Fiscal Police of Merano takes Action
At the end of September several consumers from the Pustertal Valley informed the European Consumer Center of Bolzano (EEJ) about an invitation for a presentation of washing powder. Immediately the consultants of the consumer center realized that it was again the case of ‘Vita Sanitas Q10’ because it was the same invitation as the one that had appeared at the end of July in Merano, Bolzano, Bressanone and Vipiteno. A consultant of the EEJ attended the presentation together with some officers of the fiscal police Merano. The business went exactly as described by the consumers who reported the advertising event to the fiscal police of Merano: The dietary supplement ‘Vita Sanitas Q 10’ was promoted: it is said, if you believe the seller, to have won the Nobel Prize. During the whole presentation there were several imprecisions or even mistakes, regarding medical truths. What is more, one of the guests was even advised not to take certain remedies.For some time, the EEJ has tried to convince people that it is absolutely necessary to consult doctors, pharmacists and specialists for problems regarding health!
After the authorization by prosecutor Giancarlo Bramante the officers of the fiscal police interfered in another presentation and confiscated several products as well as some money. ‘ Now, the EEJ Bolzano will sue the sellers as a civil party at a possible trial, hoping that there will be some kind of compensation for the defrauded consumers’, says Monika Nardo, consultant of the EEJ, who witnessed the whole affair and took part in one of the dubious presentations.
