Club Air: News for Owners of Tickets with Issuing Date before the 12th December 2006

In December 2006 the national office of civil air transport ENAC had withdrawn the authorisation license of the airline Club Air for a certain period of time. As a consequence, many passengers were confronted with the problem of cancelled flights. Now, the withdrawal was revoked and the airline has got back the license.
The company promised to reimburse the tickets for flights booked before the 12th of December 2006 with new tickets. For consumers who bought their tickets before that date, that is, before the license had been withdrawn, a special e-mail address was established: pax12dicembre@clubair.it.
The European Consumer Centre advises all interested consumers to contact the airline again and to send their demands to the mentioned address.

No more Tickets made of Paper

Tickets may be available in the form of paper only until the 31st of May 2008. From this date on, all airlines belonging to the international flight transport association IATA (www.iata.org) (more than 240) will issue tickets only electronically. This system has been used by low-cost airlines for years. Statistics of the IATA show that already 77% of all tickets issued in September 2007 are e-tickets. The booking is done on the computer, at most airport counters an identity card is enough, sometimes a certification with the booking number is necessary.
The abolishing of the traditional paper ticket helps the airline to reduce their costs. We will see if also the passengers will notice this reduction in the form of cheaper tickets.

Roaming: Introduction of the Euro Rate shows Effects

Since June 30 2007 the EU-Roaming-decree, which introduced the so-called Euro Rate, has been in force. The new rate had to be introduced in the offers of the telephone companies until July 30 and it establishes a maximum cost of 0,49 Euro (plus VAT) for calls made from a foreign country and a maximum of 0,24 Euro (plus VAT) for calls received from a foreign country. The Roaming Decree has immediately shown its effects: a survey by 27 national regulation offices for telecommunication and the European Commission has shown that on August, 30 already about 200 million European consumers were using the Euro Rate. Thus, consumers in the European Union pay up to 60% less for international calls within the EU.
