AVIATION TRANSPORT:

Connection Flights to Sardegna cancelled

The dispute between the national Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) and the low cost airlines Ryanair and Easyjet regarding flight connections to Sardegna has drawn the public’s attention to the air transport once again. At the beginning of last month numerous passengers who had booked a regular flight with one of the above mentioned airlines were affected by cancellations without knowing about it. Since the 2nd May 2006 the respective flights can exclusively be offered by airlines who have taken part in a special competition.
We would like to take this as an excuse to remind people to the existing regulation which protects passengers in the case of cancellations, non transportation and delays: it is the EU-decree 261 of 2004. The text can be found on the following internet homepage:

ANNIVERSARY I

10 Years of European Consumer Center I

On January, 9th 1996 the European Consumer Center of Bolzano opened its doors for the first time; since then we were able to help about 20,000 consumers.
This round anniversary was celebrated in an event where different exponents of economy, politics and consumer organisations described the extents and importance of European consumer protection. Starting from a survey about the 10 years of work for consumer protection there were also mentioned the current intentions of the legislative and new developments concerning consumer protection and economy.

ANNIVERSARY II

A small selection of curiosities which happened in 10 years.
There was a Russian editorial office who contancted us in Russian and told us about a Russian article which mentioned our Consumer Center.
An American trader could be convinced to pay thanks to the collaboration of an American Center for Consumer Concerns.
A consumer was convinced to have bought a car for 1 Euro at an online auction which turned out to be an expensive mistake.
There was a successful settlement between some Southtyrolian consumers and a travel agency.
A monkey had to be transported from Morocco to Italy.
We dragged ourselves all along the way to the post office with 26 parcels in the backpack, at the same time with 13 other European Consumer Centers in order to test efficiency and speed of the European post.
